We got up early and took the boat over to the Magic Kingdom and got there by around 7:15 for an 8am opening. Which meant it was fully open by then (early) and we were on the first ride by around 7:30am.
Disney often or always opens parks before stated opening times. It’s always been that way.
We had a good time and went on a lot before we were getting hot and tired by 10am. Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, Pirates of the Caribbean, Haunted Mansion, Mickey’s Philharmagic (still one of the best Disney animations I know, still utterly delightful), Voyage of the Little Mermaid, People Mover, Carousel of Progress, Enchanted Tiki Room, Country Bears).
Haunted Mansion has an interesting effect at the end when the ghosts are going to follow you home. I think they are computer generating the ghost effects live and tracking our positions in the vehicles to project the ghost next to you regardless of seating positon. One also took of it’s head and replaced it with mine. It was a little hard to see but whatever it did matched my neck while my vehicle was moving (this is seen in a mirror). It’s a nice trick. (And apparently has been there since 2011. I don’t go to Disneyworld often and normally the Haunted Mansion is VERY crowded. Today we just walked on).
Lunch was at the Liberty Tree Tavern. It is an “all-you-can-enjoy” American feast.
Basically they serve Thanksgiving every day of the year. First a basic salad. Then the platter of meat: roast turkey, roast pork, and pot roast with stuffing and gravy. And a platter of green beans and mashed potatoes. And macaroni and cheese.
It was all surprisingly good. I think the turkey had been brined and was very good. As were the pork and pot roast. The beans and potatoes were nice. The macaroni and cheese was house made and decent.
Dessert is their “famous” toffee cake with ice cream. Out comes a plate with probably the equivalent of 3 large scoops of ice cream on top of the toffee cake. This was also surprisingly delicious. Plus it was ice cream.
You can ask for more of anything. We found what came out in the first round was more than satisfying. And then we went back to the RV.
I had a business call, my mother and Bob went to run some errands. I’m feeling exhausted and have some work I’m trying to get done. A bit I’ve delegated to Chris (who very happy edits my writing and sometimes ghostwrites for me). Some will just wait until I have more energy
